Since Marc Jacobs took over as creative director, Louis Vuitton have displayed strong links to the art world. And now, the brand are publishing a compilation of the photography work of Seydou Keïta.
Keïta started taking photos at the age of 14, when he was given a Kodak Brownie Flash camera. He opened his studio in 1948, where he did black-and-white custom photography. The self-taught talent, known for his honest portraits and photos of his native city Bamako, seems to capture the soul of his subject in every shot he takes.
Portrait of Bamako is a limited edition book, of which there are fifty numbered copies, about Seydou Keïta's work between 1948 and 1963 in Bamako, Mali.
