Vogue, NYC & Company, New York's City Hall and the CFDA have just launched an initiative to boost sales in fashion. The aim is to create a 'fashion night out' to bring people into stores. The initiative is starting out in NYC, but they want to make it an international event.
From small independent boutiques to big fashion brands, the aim is to celebrate a night of fashion on the 10th of September. Stores will be open until eleven pm and there will be lots of performances and fashion celebs.
It'll be a big open party, everyone will be invited. Designers like Oscar de la Renta, Zac Posen, Derek Lam, Phillip Lim have welcomed the initiative.
Ideas are only just coming together: some owners will use their stores to raise money for charity; others will fill their stores with celebs; and more will do special discounts and exclusive garments. Some brands have already proposed specific plans, like Tory Burch, who will host a performance by Estelle.
So far, cities like London, Mumbai, Tokyo and Madrid intend to join this big fashion celebration. Why don't you look at the website to find out more. And don't forget to put the 10th of September into your diary.
