Aviator Amelia Earhart was a true style icon from the beginning of the last century whose style is still influential. Today we've decided to tell you about her, to coincide with Jean Paul Gaultier having chosen her as the muse of his fall winter 09 Hermés collection.
Born in Kansas in 1897, Amelia Earhart will go down in history for her aviation records and for being the first person to attempt to fly around the world along the equator.
She will always be the queen of the air, and it's interesting to see how her androgenous yet feminine look has also survived over the years. Her leather jackets, ties, silk foulards and high-waisted fitted trousers revolutionised ideas of femininity of her time, and they take on a new dimension today.
Aviator jumpsuits have never been so feminine. Jean Paul Gaultier brings back her oversize trenchcoats, jackets, aviator caps, and makes them into exquisite luxury pieces for the Hermés fall winter 09 collection.
We bring you Amelia Earhart, a top style icon this season...
