DAVID DOWNTOWN Vogue Australia's 50th
| xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |
Vogue Australia wanted to celebrate their 50th birthday in style, so they're bringing us a unique September issue with fantastic editorials and content that make it a real collectors' item. And to top it off, they wanted to present the issue with a unique work of art on the cover.
Kirstie Clements brought Cate Blanchett on board to star in their 50th birthday issue. She knew she wanted to create four covers to make the issue a true collectors' item, and she knew she could call on Mario Testino or Patrick Demarchelier to photograph the actress. But she decided to do something different, and asked British illustrator David Downtown to create an exclusive, unique cover.
Blanchett chose the designers she wanted to wear in the illustrations: Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Martin Gran, and of course Armani.
London's Dorchester Hotel was the setting where Cate posed for illustrator David Downtown. The result is fantastic - people will be talking about David's work and about this Vogue issue for months to come...
