Louis Vuitton has invited one of the 21st century's most famous artists to help celebrate the brand's 150th birthday. The idea of the project was that each artist would freely design a piece that defined their art. Now, almost a year later, here's the piece created by Hirst, today's most sought-after artist.
Damien Hirst, the world's most sought-after living artist, took inspiration from David Cronenberg's film Dead Ringers to create two twin trunks for LV.
The pieces were created in collaboration with the artist in LV's workshops in Asnières. They are made of black nomade leather covered in blue microfibre, and they were designed to carry surgical equipment. And each one features printed butterflies and silver skulls on the inside.
We're sure that these trunks created by Hirst will make it around the world. But for now, we'll leave you with some photos of the pieces, which are now part of LV's unique art collection.
