Here at Viewonfashion.com we've always been interested in keeping up to date with the Halston brand. Their new path has seen them bring back the brand's heritage - something we definitely approve of.

Now, here's a tribute to Halston on behalf of the film industry. It's the documentary Ultrasuede: In Search of Halston, a portrait of the rise and fall of America's first celeb designer. His work caused a stir in the seventies, when he became the emperor of New York nightlife. Celebs like Diane von Furstenberg, Bianca Jagger, Lauren Bacall and Liza Minelli wore his dresses and became queens of the city for a night.

The film features people like André Leon Talley, Anjelica Houston and Billy Joel. It reveals the life of Bergdorf Goodman's hat designer, who, thanks to Jackie Kennedy choosing one of his designs, shot to fame and made his cashmere dresses and famous Ultrasuede dress icons of the seventies.

The film was directed by Whitney Sudler-Smith and it'll be presented at the Tribeca festival on April 30th.
