Frida Giannini found some of the inspiration for this collection in Rio de Janeiro, particularly in the buildings created by Oscar Niemeyer and his fascination for contrasts. The collection is optimistic, reflecting escapism, freedom, a chic sportswear look and the summery feel of Brazilian beaches.
Gucci have reinterpreted classic elegance using a variety of materials and colours. From aggressive reds in stunningly shiny materials to more psychedelic compositions and geometric fantasy.
It's interesting to see how Frida Giannini has experimented with a sportswear style in part of the new collection, working with new materials like neoprene and nylon, and combining them with the exquisite leathers that are intrinsic to the brand's essence. Her sportswear look mixes hoodies with anoraks and leggins.
In the evening indigo is the essential colour, taking the place of black.
The shoe line is discreet but refined, in a retro style that contrasts various leathers. We like the striking white handbags featuring a mix of patchwork designs.
