Taking inspiration from their recent travels around East Asia, Kenzo's new creative directors presented a collection built around water- and wind-proof materials. While prioritizing practicality, they still manage to add a dramatic touch to each look.
Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, who took over at the French brand a couple of seasons ago, continue to demonstrate their respect for the brand by celebrating each collection with a free spirit. Inspired by Ed Ruscha's colors, Rhudd van Empce's hyperrealistic collages and the jungle of prints in Peter Doig's work, the creative duo have transformed the East Asian landscape into a wild range of prints, including one leopard print in different faded neon tones. They've used the area's artesan basketmaking as inspiration for their knitted sweaters. With striking volumes, they've experimented with levels in their waterproof parkas, which feature half zips for a 2 in 1 effect.
As part of their Resort 2013 line, Kenzo are releasing their first bowling bag, with an iPad cover inside, which is called nº18, in honor of their Paris studio, located on number 18 Rue Vivienne.
