For Autumn/Winter 2009, Savile Row tailor Nick Hart continues to refine the Aquascutum Ltd. Collection with an elegant revival of 1950s and 1960s British tailoring. Teaming up with Graeme Fidler, Head of Menswear Design at Aquascutum, the duo have extended Aquascutum Ltd. and developed the existing outerwear offer.
Three stand-out coats summarise the outwear collection. The classic trench carries all the hallmarks of Aquascutum’s iconic design and perfectly complements the Aquascutum Ltd. suiting worn beneath. The sporty blouson jacket references the Steve McQueen look. Sleek, lightweight and versatile, this jacket will carry through all seasons. The essential peacoat honours Aquascutum’s military heritage with artisanal stitching detail and cut.
Aquascutum Ltd. signature pieces include narrow-cut trousers, shawl-collared jackets and boxy suiting with high lapels. Distilled and precise garment construction, as well as an application of texturally interesting cloth, form the foundations of the collection.
Aquascutum is one of only a few remaining British luxury brands to still manufacture the majority of its outerwear, which includes the ‘Nigel’ coat from the Ltd. collection, in England – at its Corby, Northamptonshire based factory. ‘Made in England’ reaffirms the company’s luxury positioning and its commitment to ensure impeccable standards are maintained, whilst continuing to support and nurture the British textile industry.
