HERMÉS First lady of the air

We're used to seeing magnificent editorials in the Le Monde D´Hermés catalogue. But we particularly loved this photo-shoot inspired by the essence of their fall winter 2009 collection.
It's a tribute to the first lady of the air, Amelia Mary Earhart. The famous aviator inspired the fall winter 09 collection created by Jean Paul Gaultier for Hermés.
American aviator Amelia Earhart has been an icon of the fashion industry for decades, since her attempt to be the first to complete the aerial voyage around the equator. As you can imagine, this Hermés collection is full of bomber and aviator jackets, elegant oversize trenchcoats and jumpsuits that combine warm russet, grey and purple tones. We really love their aviator caps with vintage glasses, which emphasise the elegance and the heroic, cinematographic style of the line.
The first lady of the air comes back into fashion as we await the release of the film starring Oscar-winning Hilary Swank.
These photos were taken by Peter Lindbergh, who collaborated with the magnificent styling talents of Samuel François.
