Marc Jacobs is still surprising us - this time with what may be the best collection at Paris fashion week. Far from the fear that has reigned in many of the big brands, who have assumed that marketability means less ideas and less fantasy, Jacobs has shown that the opposite is true: the current economic climate is a time for a launch of ideas, of styles, of attitudes, of creativity - and he's dressing women who still want to surprise and captivate.
The collection itself is terrifically sexy and colourful, with a Parisian spirit, a fervour of African details, and even some inspiration from Josephine Baker and David Bowie.
Jacobs's collection for Vuitton looked like a tribute to YSL. The colour palette was passionate - sand tones mixed with purples, oranges and jungle greens - and there were endless details, from lace to own-brand accessories transformed with snippets of patent leather, animal prints and colourful details.
A collection full of mixes, with big-shouldered jackets, tribal art designs and shoes with endless sumptuous details. All in all, amazing!
